Chapter 10 - The Final Audit

The FBI tactical team descended on the beach like a localized hurricane.
Blinding spotlights illuminated the cliffs as heavily armed agents swarmed the property.
Vance’s man dropped his gun instantly, raising his hands in surrender as laser sights painted his chest.
I sat shivering on the sand, clutching the laptop as a female agent wrapped a thick thermal blanket around my shoulders.
Within an hour, Adrian, Celeste, and Vance were sitting in handcuffs on the back of an armored transport vehicle.
The lead investigator confirmed that my transmission had given them everything they needed to seize Vance’s offshore empire.
My father’s properties were safe, the stolen funds were frozen, and the corrupt Detective Price had been arrested back in the states.
The nightmare was finally over.
Six months later, I was sitting on the balcony of my father’s restored coastal home, sipping tea and watching the sunset.
My career had skyrocketed after exposing the syndicate, and my life was perfectly peaceful again.
I smiled as I sorted through the daily mail, tossing bills into a neat pile.
At the bottom of the stack was an elegant, cream-colored envelope with no return address.
I broke the wax seal and pulled out a beautifully embossed wedding invitation.

The groom’s name listed on the card was my late father.
And the bride’s name was mine.
