Chapter 5 - The Ambush

Genevieve called an emergency board meeting on a Tuesday. She stood at the head of the glass table, wearing a sharp, slate-gray suit.
"Gentlemen," Genevieve announced to the board of directors. "Due to unforeseen market shifts, Harrington Enterprises is insolvent. I am proposing an immediate liquidation of our assets. The executive board will receive healthy severance packages, of course."
She was going to take the cash and run, leaving the workers with nothing.
The heavy boardroom doors swung open. I walked in, carrying a thick black briefcase.
"There will be no liquidation," I said, tossing the briefcase onto the center of the table.
Genevieve laughed, a brittle, mocking sound. "Security, remove my nephew. He’s clearly having a breakdown."
"I have the Genesis files, Genevieve," I said loudly. The room fell dead silent. "I have the offshore routing numbers. The dummy corporations. And I have the emails between you and Dr. Vance."
May you like
Genevieve’s face drained of color. The mask of inherited arrogance shattered.
"If you vote to liquidate," I told the board, looking every single executive in the eye, "you will all be indicted as co-conspirators in federal fraud and manslaughter. Or, you can vote to strip Genevieve of her shares right now, and I will show you how to save the company."
