Chapter 7 - The Interruption

Gabriel immediately drew his weapon and aimed it at Sienna.
Elias casually raised his hand, signaling his security chief to stand down.
Sienna marched down the aisle, her eyes locked furiously on Elias.
"You lied to me!" Sienna shouted, pointing an accusing finger at him.
"You pretended to be a cripple just to test me!"
Elias looked down at her with a chilling, empty expression.
"You failed the test, Sienna," Elias replied coldly.
Sienna realized that she had thrown away the most powerful empire in the city for nothing.
She turned her venomous glare toward Maeve.
"She is just a maid!" Sienna yelled to the room.
"She is a dirty, penniless fraud who steals from my family."
Elias smoothly reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a stamped legal document.
"As of this morning, Maeve is the sole owner of all Ashford family properties," Elias announced.
Sienna stopped screaming, her face turning pale with absolute horror.
"I bought your family's massive debts from the bank, and I transferred the deeds to my new bride," Elias explained.
Sienna fell to her knees, realizing her mother's schemes had ruined them entirely.
Elias gestured for his guards to remove the crying woman from his chapel.
Gabriel dragged Sienna out the door, throwing her onto the gravel driveway outside.
Elias turned back to the priest and nodded firmly.
"Continue," Elias commanded.
They exchanged rings, and Elias placed a massive diamond on Maeve's shaking finger.
"You are safe now, Mrs. Marchetti," Elias whispered as he kissed her gently on the cheek.
Later that evening, Maeve sat alone in their massive master bedroom.
She felt an overwhelming sense of guilt about the money spent on her.
When Elias walked into the room, Maeve stood up with tears in her eyes.
"You have to know the truth about my brother, Leo," Maeve confessed, expecting him to be furious.
Elias simply smiled and handed her a thick medical file.
"I know all about Leo," Elias said softly.

Maeve opened the file and saw a receipt for her brother's heart surgery.
The surgery had been paid in full a week ago, long before Maeve was even forced into this plot.
