Chapter 9 - The Blackout
Victor sneered at Elena as she walked into the room, demanding the digital decryption key to immediately restore his massive, stolen fortune.
He gestured grandly to the dark corner of the lavish office, where Lily was tied securely to a heavy, ornate marble chair.
Elena's heart ached fiercely at the sight of her crying, terrified daughter, but she maintained her incredibly cold, calculated, and professional composure.
She demanded absolutely that Victor release Lily to the waiting elevator before she would speak a single word about the missing billions.
Victor laughed mockingly, signaling his elite, heavily armored guards to raise their assault rifles directly at Elena's unprotected chest.
He stated arrogantly that he was the only one giving the orders in this room, and he would gladly torture Lily to extract the access codes.
Elena slowly, deliberately reached her empty hand deep into the pocket of her ruined, filthy tailored cream-colored blazer.
Victor's guards tensed aggressively, fingers on their triggers, but she only pulled out a small, metallic sphere the exact size of a golf ball.
It was a highly illegal, military-grade localized EMP device she had secretly stolen from Jax's underground garage during the chaos.
She dropped the metallic sphere onto the marble floor, and it instantly emitted a blinding, completely silent pulse of bright blue energy.
Every single overhead light, computer monitor, and electronic laser gun sight in the massive penthouse died immediately and permanently.
The entire luxurious, high-tech floor was instantly plunged into absolute, pitch-black, suffocating darkness.
A heavy, reinforced glass window shattered violently as Isabella's flawless sniper bullet took down the heavily armed guard standing closest to Lily.

Elena used the sheer chaos, panic, and total darkness to lunge forward, grabbing a sharp combat knife from the belt of a fallen mercenary.
Suddenly, she felt Victor's massive hands wrap brutally and tightly around her throat in the dark, cutting off her air supply completely.
