Elena froze as the billionaire's cold breath brushed against her ear.

She had spent six months creating a flawless fake identity, yet he saw through it instantly.

"I have no idea who you are talking about," she lied, forcing her voice to remain steady.

Julian chuckled softly, sipping his expensive bourbon without breaking eye contact.

"You have your father's stubborn eyes, my dear," he murmured.

He leaned in closer, his grip tightening painfully on her shoulder.

"Enjoy the party, because you are never leaving this building," he promised.

Julian released her and walked away, immediately signaling two massive security guards to approach her.

Her informant, a corrupt hotel manager named Marcus, was supposed to meet her there with the vault codes.

The elevator doors chimed and opened to a dark, completely silent hallway.

Elena stepped out cautiously, calling Marcus's name into the shadows.

She found him sitting in a leather chair at the end of the corridor.

A bloody silver knife was buried deep in his chest.
