Chapter 9 - The Rescue Mission

Sofia pushed the vent cover open and dropped silently into the sterile hospital room.
The woman on the bed gasped and dropped her sketchbook in pure shock.
Who are you?
The woman whispered, shrinking back against the headboard.
I am the girl who traded bracelets with you during the orphanage fire.
Sofia replied, stepping slowly into the light so the woman could see her face.
Chiara stared at her, tears welling up in her identical brown eyes.
My father thinks I burned to death twenty years ago.
Chiara wept, touching the gold bracelet on her wrist.
Victor has kept me locked in this cage my entire life to torture me.
Sofia grabbed Chiara's hand, pulling her gently from the bed.
Your father knows the truth now, and he is coming to tear this place to the ground.
Sofia promised fiercely.
Suddenly, the blaring sound of emergency sirens echoed through the entire Falcone estate.
Massive explosions shook the walls as Riccardo's army breached the front gates.
Victor rushed into the hospital room, holding a heavy assault rifle and looking completely unhinged.
He saw Sofia and Chiara standing together and let out a scream of absolute madness.
If I cannot use you to control Riccardo, then neither of you will leave this room alive!
Victor raised the rifle, aiming it directly at Chiara's chest.
Sofia did not hesitate for a fraction of a second.
She grabbed a heavy metal IV stand and swung it with all her strength into Victor's knees.
Victor collapsed with a howl of pain, dropping his weapon to the floor.
Sofia grabbed Chiara's hand, and they sprinted down the hallway into the chaos of the mansion.
They ran straight into the grand foyer, finding themselves trapped in a massive crossfire.
Riccardo was standing near the entrance, fighting his way through the Falcone guards with ruthless precision.
He looked up and saw Sofia holding the hand of the daughter he thought he had lost forever.
Time seemed to stand still as the father and daughter locked eyes across the bloodstained room.
Before they could reach each other, Victor stumbled out onto the second-floor balcony holding a rocket launcher.
May you like
I will bury you all under the rubble of my own home!
Victor screamed, aiming the heavy weapon directly at the center of the foyer.
