Chapter 7 - The Chase

Vivienne’s face went bone-white. She screamed for her security detail.
Liana turned and sprinted toward the service elevators. She threw off her high heels, running barefoot across the marble floors. Alarms began to blare throughout the massive skyscraper. The masquerade dissolved into screaming chaos.
Liana burst into the underground parking garage just as Dominic pulled up in a sleek black Aston Martin.
"Get in!" he yelled over the screech of tires.
Liana dove into the passenger seat just as a hail of bullets shattered the concrete pillar behind them. Julian had followed them down, holding a sidearm, flanked by Vivienne’s fixers.
Dominic slammed the accelerator, the engine roaring as they tore through the subterranean garage. Sparks flew as the car scraped against a concrete barrier, dodging heavy gunfire.
"Did you get it?" Liana screamed over the noise.
Dominic tossed the black leather ledger into her lap. "Every dirty secret she’s ever kept!"
Two black SUVs merged behind them, trying to run the Aston Martin off the road as they burst out into the neon-lit city streets. A terrifying, high-speed chase ensued. Dominic drove with lethal precision, weaving through oncoming traffic.
"Hold on!" Dominic shouted, yanking the emergency brake and spinning the car 180 degrees. He drew his own weapon, firing three calculated shots through the windshield.

The tires of the lead SUV blew out. The massive vehicle flipped, crashing into the second SUV in a fiery explosion of steel and glass, blocking the road completely.
Dominic slammed the car back into gear and vanished into the night. They were safe, and they had the ultimate weapon.
