Chương 1 - The Russian Rebuttal

Dominic leaned forward and locked his eyes on Cassidy with a predatory gleam.

He was ready to deliver the punchline to his cruel joke.

He switched from English to Russian, his pronunciation stiff but undeniably deliberate.

“Bring the bill and vanish, you foolish, uneducated girl,” Dominic ordered in Russian.

He smiled, looking at Victor and Natalia to ensure they were admiring his dominance.

He expected the waitress to stare blankly or stutter an apology for not understanding.

Cassidy did not blink.

She did not stutter.

Her posture remained perfectly aligned as she looked down at the billionaire.

When she opened her mouth, her Russian was not just fluent.

It was the aristocratic, razor-sharp dialect of the St. Petersburg elite.

“I would be delighted to bring your bill, Mr. Pierce,” Cassidy replied in flawless Russian.

“However, a truly educated man would know that insulting the staff does not mask the insecurities in his business portfolio.”

The smile vanished from Dominic’s face instantly.

His jaw dropped slightly as his brain struggled to process what had just happened.

Victor let out a sudden, booming laugh that echoed across the silent dining room.

Natalia’s eyes widened with genuine amusement and profound respect.

Dominic’s face turned a violent shade of crimson.

He slammed his hand onto the mahogany table.

“Who do you think you are speaking to?” Dominic hissed in English, abandoning his linguistic charade.

Cassidy kept her face completely neutral.

“I am simply providing the attentive service you requested, sir,” she said smoothly.

Victor raised his hand, cutting Dominic off before he could shout another threat.

The Russian oligarch looked at Cassidy with cold, calculating eyes.

“You do not learn that specific dialect in a university classroom, little bird,” Victor said softly.

He leaned across the table, the amusement completely gone from his face.

“I know exactly who you used to work for in Moscow, and you have exactly three seconds to tell me why you are spying on my table.”
