Chapter 1 - The Billionaire’s Toy

Marcus Holt didn’t just clean cars; he read them. To him, the midnight-blue Bugatti wasn’t just a carbon-fiber shell; it was a breathing organism of valves, pistons, and twin-turbocharged fury. He ran the yellow chamois over the rear wing, his touch feather-light, ensuring not a single microscopic swirl mark remained.
The heavy glass doors of the boutique slid open, breaking the cathedral-like silence.
In walked Damian Cross, a thirty-two-year-old tech billionaire with a reputation for destroying companies and collecting hypercars he barely knew how to drive. He was flanked by his entourage and a young, slick-haired mechanic named Chad, who carried an expensive diagnostic tablet.
"Is it ready?" Damian snapped, not looking at Marcus. He ran a hand over the hood, his heavy gold ring perilously close to the pristine paint.
"It's detailed, Mr. Cross," Marcus said, his voice a low, gravelly rumble. He gently stepped between Damian's hand and the car. "Careful with the rings, sir. The clear coat is fresh."
Damian sneered, looking Marcus up and down, taking in the faded navy-blue uniform. "I didn't ask for a lecture from the janitor. Chad, check the tune. I want an extra fifty horsepower unlocked before I take it to the canyon tonight."
"You shouldn't flash the ECU on this build," Marcus said quietly, not moving away from the car. "The cooling system on this specific bespoke model isn't rated for a forced over-boost. It'll crack the manifold."

The room went dead silent. Chad laughed, a mocking, high-pitched sound. "Listen to the old man with the rag. Don't worry about it, pops. I have a degree in advanced automotive engineering. I think I know how to plug in a laptop."
Marcus didn’t argue. He just picked up his supplies, gave the Bugatti one last, mournful look, and walked away. He knew exactly what was going to happen.
