Chapter 10 - The False Victory

The armored SUV smashed through the chain-link fence of the private airfield.

A sleek Gulfstream jet was idling on the dark, rain-slicked runway.

Tommy Flannery was frantically throwing heavy black duffel bags onto the loading ramp.

Vincent kicked his door open before the vehicle even stopped moving.

He raised his weapon and fired a single shot into the jet's front tire.

The rubber exploded loudly, grounding the aircraft immediately.

Tommy screamed and dropped a duffel bag, spilling stacks of hundred-dollar bills onto the wet tarmac.

He raised his hands in the air and fell to his knees in the puddles.

Vincent marched forward and pressed the barrel of his gun against Tommy's forehead.

Charmian stepped out of the vehicle, staring at her brother with absolute disgust.

"You let them beat me."

She whispered, her voice breaking with heartbroken betrayal.

Tommy looked at her and laughed.

It was a cold, manic sound that completely defied his desperate situation.

"You always were too naive, Charmian."

Tommy smiled maliciously up at the mafia boss holding the gun to his head.

"The money is all here, Vincent."

Vincent kicked Tommy in the chest, knocking him flat onto the wet pavement.

"The Russian threat is gone, and Dante is completely exposed."

Vincent looked back at Charmian to reassure her that the nightmare was finally over.

She was perfectly safe now.

Tommy continued to laugh hysterically from the ground.

"I did not steal this money for Dante."

Tommy grinned, displaying teeth stained with his own blood.

Vincent frowned, feeling a sudden, chilling shift in the atmosphere.

He slowly turned his head to look over his shoulder.

Aleandro White stepped out from the shadows of the jet wing.

Vincent's trusted underboss raised his weapon and pressed the barrel directly against Vincent's spine.

"Thank you for delivering the girl, boss."
