Chapter 9 - The Final Chase

Hannah refused to let the man who had betrayed their family completely escape justice.

She dropped the thermal blanket and sprinted aggressively past the distracted police officers.

The freezing mud violently sucked at her boots as she pushed deeper into the dark, dense forest.

Julian was moving quickly, his dark suit blending perfectly into the heavy shadows of the pine trees.

Hannah pushed herself past the point of sheer exhaustion, her burning lungs fighting for oxygen.

She finally caught up to him near the edge of a massive, rushing river completely swollen by the storm.

Julian turned around and calmly faced her, looking entirely unfazed by the police raid on the road.

He told her that running away was completely pointless because he still controlled massive offshore accounts.

He offered her one final chance to join him in building a brand new, unstoppable criminal empire.

Hannah fiercely grabbed a heavy, broken tree branch from the muddy ground and held it like a weapon.

She declared loudly that she would rather die than ever take a single penny of that blood money.

Julian sighed in deep disappointment and aggressively pulled a hidden silver knife from his jacket pocket.

He lunged forward violently, swiping the deadly blade directly at her chest in the darkness.

Hannah desperately blocked the brutal attack with the thick branch, the wood splintering loudly upon impact.

She kicked him fiercely in the knee, sending him stumbling backward toward the dangerous riverbank.

Julian slipped wildly on the wet mud and dropped the sharp knife into the rushing water below.

Hannah stood perfectly still, looking down at the desperate, terrified brother she used to deeply love.
