Chapter 9 - The Harbor Trap

Sadie’s blood ran completely cold as Liam begged for his life through the phone.

The Marcano boss snatched the phone from Liam’s hands, his voice dripping with cruel amusement.

He told Sadie to bring Callum to Pier 42 at the harbor within one hour, or Liam would be blown to pieces.

The line went dead before she could even utter a response.

Sadie dropped the phone, her hands shaking violently as she looked at Callum’s pale face.

She told him it was a trap and that he was in no condition to fight an entire mafia family.

Callum slowly sat up on the wooden pew, his jaw set in a line of absolute, terrifying resolve.

He pulled a roll of duct tape from a supply bag and tightly bound his bleeding thigh to stop the hemorrhage.

He told Sadie that the Russos did not run from traps; they dismantled them.

Callum pulled his encrypted phone and sent a single, emergency beacon to every loyal soldier in his organization.

They drove to the harbor in silence, the tension in the car thick enough to cut with a knife.

Pier 42 was a desolate expanse of rusted shipping containers and towering steel cranes.

The Marcano boss stood at the end of the dock, holding a remote detonator in his hand.

Liam was tied to a concrete pylon, completely wrapped in military-grade plastic explosives.

Dante stood faithfully by the boss’s side, holding an assault rifle aimed directly at Callum’s chest.

Callum stepped out of the car alone, his hands raised in a mock gesture of surrender.

The Marcano boss laughed and prepared to press the detonator button.

Suddenly, the harbor was illuminated by the blinding headlights of twenty armored black SUVs.

Callum’s entire army had arrived, surrounding the pier in a flawless tactical perimeter.

Gunfire erupted from all sides as the Russo soldiers systematically decimated the Marcano mercenaries.

Callum drew his pistol and shot Dante squarely in the chest, ending the traitor’s life instantly.

He sprinted toward the concrete pylon to cut Liam loose from the explosives.

The Marcano boss, bleeding from a shoulder wound, lifted a heavy rocket launcher from a nearby weapons crate.

He aimed the massive weapon directly at the shipping container where Sadie was desperately taking cover.
