Chapter 4 - The Housekeeper

Rosa stepped slowly down the concrete ramp.
Her usually immaculate gray hair was damp from the storm raging outside.
She racked the slide of the heavy shotgun with a terrifying, metallic sound.
"I gave you three simple rules to follow, Miss Gallagher," Rosa scolded loudly.
"You should have ignored the noise and stayed downstairs."
Sadi stared at the woman who had hired her, unable to process the massive betrayal.
"You are the one who let the assassins into the estate," Dante rasped from the passenger seat.
Rosa offered a cold, humorless smile.
"The Falcone family pays much better than you do, Mister Russo," she confessed easily.
Sadi's heart hammered violently against her ribs.
The Falcone family was the exact same criminal syndicate that held her father's gambling debts.
"Step out of the vehicle, Sadi," Rosa commanded, raising the barrel of the weapon.
"If you give him to me, I will let you walk away and cancel your father's debt entirely."
Sadi looked at Dante, who was bleeding heavily onto the leather seats.
He did not beg for his life or ask her to save him.
He simply closed his eyes and accepted his brutal fate.
Sadi gripped the leather steering wheel until her knuckles turned completely white.
She had spent three years living in fear of the Falcone family and their relentless debt collectors.
She refused to be their pawn for one more second.
Sadi looked down at the center console and noticed a secondary red ignition switch.
It was the manual override for the armored vehicle's backup generator.
She slammed her fist down onto the glowing red button.
The massive V8 engine roared to life with a deafening explosion of sound.
Rosa's eyes widened in genuine panic.
Sadi slammed her foot onto the gas pedal and drove the heavy SUV directly toward the housekeeper.
Rosa fired a desperate shot that shattered the passenger window, but she could not stop the two-ton machine.
She dove out of the way just as Sadi smashed the vehicle through the heavy wooden garage doors.
They launched out into the violent, pouring rain of the night.

"Turn left at the main gate!" Dante yelled over the roaring wind.
Sadi spun the steering wheel, but a black sedan suddenly blocked the entire road ahead of them.
