Chapter 2 - The Morning Revelations

I spent the entire night sitting rigidly on the living room sofa with a heavy baseball bat resting firmly across my lap.
The police had arrived an hour after the brick was thrown, but they completely dismissed the incident as a random act of teenage vandalism.
When the sun finally began to rise, I walked into the kitchen and started making a massive, delicious breakfast strictly for my biological children.
Jason and Alyssa stumbled down the stairs a few minutes later, loudly complaining that the internet router was completely broken.
I calmly flipped a pancake and informed them that the wireless network was functioning perfectly fine for the devices I actually paid for.
Jason angrily demanded the new password, aggressively stepping into my personal space to try and physically intimidate me.
I did not flinch or back away as I told him he would never access a single piece of technology in my house ever again.
Daniel rushed into the kitchen, looking completely exhausted and deeply furious after being forced to walk home the previous night.
He yelled that I was actively destroying the family and creating a toxic environment for his innocent children.
I ignored his pathetic tantrums, packed a healthy lunch for Olivia and Ethan, and drove my kids to their elementary school.
When I returned to the house, I expected to find Daniel and his teenagers sulking in the living room.
Instead, the house was completely empty, and the front door was left wide open, inviting the cold morning wind inside.
I walked upstairs to inspect the bedrooms and found my personal closet completely trashed, with my expensive clothes shredded and thrown across the floor.
I felt a rising tide of fierce anger, but I maintained my absolute composure as I began to clean up the terrible, malicious mess.
While picking up a pile of ruined dresses, I noticed Jason's old, discarded tablet hidden beneath a pile of dirty laundry in his messy bedroom.
The screen was completely unlocked and displayed a highly active, unencrypted group chat between Jason, Alyssa, and their biological mother.
I scrolled through the horrifying messages, feeling my blood run completely ice cold as I read the deeply twisted conversations.
Melissa was actively offering to pay her children one hundred dollars every single time they successfully made me cry.

She had specifically instructed Jason to destroy Ethan's wooden airplane because she knew it would completely break my heart.
The final message from Melissa stated that they needed to push me down the stairs if the emotional abuse did not successfully force me out of the house.
