Chapter 7 - The Silent Witness

The video was shaky, recorded covertly from beneath the edge of the dining room table.

Megan had hidden her phone in her lap the moment the shouting started.

The footage clearly showed my father's heavy shoe viciously kicking Tyler in the chest.

It perfectly captured my mother’s cold indifference and Natalie’s cruel, satisfied smirk.

A collective gasp echoed through the courtroom, mirroring the one from Thanksgiving night.

The judge’s face turned scarlet with absolute fury as he stared down at my parents.

Richard tried to stand up and object, but his own high-priced lawyer violently pulled him back down into his seat.

"This is heavily manipulated!" my father stammered, sweating profusely under the courtroom lights.

"It is a continuous, unbroken shot," the judge barked back, slamming his heavy wooden gavel.

The judge immediately revoked the emergency custody order and ordered my parents to stay away from my children.

He dispatched two armed bailiffs to retrieve Tyler and Megan from my parents' estate immediately.

I collapsed into my chair, weeping with sheer relief as the nightmare finally began to shatter.

However, the judge was not finished with his rulings.

He turned his attention back to the financial documents my parents had submitted to prove my instability.

"If they lied about the assault, I want a full forensic audit of these bank records to see what else they fabricated," the judge ordered.

Natalie went completely pale and tried to quietly slip out of the back of the courtroom.

A bailiff blocked her path, instructing her sternly to return to her seat.

My lawyer leaned over to me with a grim, calculating smile.

"We won the kids back, but this video shows something else," he whispered, pointing to the background of the footage.

I squinted at the screen and realized my Uncle Warren was visible in the reflection of the dining room mirror, holding a stack of my stolen bank statements before the fight even started.
