Chapter 9 - The Mastermind

The CEO of Vanguard Dynamics was a towering man with cold, calculating eyes and a jagged scar across his jaw.

He held a massive tactical handgun, pointing it directly at the center of my forehead.

He kicked my wounded father out of the way, expressing absolute disgust at his inability to control me.

The CEO explained that my parents were merely expendable scientists, but I was a billion-dollar asset.

He ordered two heavily armed guards to drag me down the corridor toward the main extraction laboratory.

I analyzed every possible escape route, but the narrow hallway was completely locked down with biometric scanners.

They pushed me into the massive, sterile laboratory where Eli was still strapped to the examination table.

My son looked up at me with tear-filled eyes, crying out my name in a voice that shattered my heart.

I fought desperately against the guards, but their sheer physical strength was completely overwhelming.

The CEO walked over to the main computer terminal and initiated the automated surgical sequence.

A massive robotic arm equipped with a terrifying spinal needle slowly descended toward my crying child.

The CEO smiled cruelly and told me that the extraction process was entirely fatal for the subject.

I screamed with a primal rage, begging him to take my life instead and let my innocent son go.

He ignored my pleas, typing the final command code into the glowing holographic keyboard.

Suddenly, the entire facility plunged into complete darkness as the main power grid failed.

Emergency red sirens blared as a computerized voice announced a catastrophic system override.

The robotic surgical arm froze completely still, hanging harmlessly above Eli's fragile body.

Jackson's voice suddenly crackled over the laboratory's main public address system.

He had not been captured by the mercenaries; he had allowed them to chase a decoy while he infiltrated the mainframe.

Jackson announced that he had armed the nuclear silo's self-destruct sequence, and we had exactly five minutes to evacuate.

The CEO roared in absolute fury, firing his weapon wildly into the dark laboratory.

The flashes of gunfire illuminated the room just enough for me to see the guards completely distracted by the chaos.

I grabbed a heavy surgical scalpel from a nearby tray and prepared to fight for our lives.
