Chapter 8 - The Tarmac Confrontation

I stared at the horrifying blood on Tessa's hands, my heart freezing entirely inside my chest as pure terror consumed me.

I screamed Jonah's name into the cold night air, desperately praying for a tiny cry to answer me back.

Tessa laughed mockingly at my panic, wiping the dark blood casually onto the fabric of her expensive designer pants.

She calmly informed us that the blood did not belong to my precious, fragile baby boy.

She aggressively kicked a heavy object out of the cabin door, sending it tumbling violently down the metal stairs.

Russell's lifeless body crashed onto the hard concrete tarmac, a massive, fatal gunshot wound perfectly centered in his chest.

Tessa had ruthlessly murdered her own partner the moment he became a useless liability to her escape plan.

She confidently stepped down the stairs, holding a small, highly secure thermal carrier that contained my stolen son.

In her other hand, she held a heavy, specialized detonator switch directly wired to the jet's massive fuel tanks.

She loudly warned us that if anyone fired a single shot, she would instantly blow the entire aircraft into a million pieces.

Vance slowly lowered his rifle, refusing to risk Jonah's life in a massive, fiery explosion on the runway.

Tessa smugly demanded that Whitaker hand over the master decryption keys for the stolen military drone files immediately.

She promised to leave the baby on the tarmac if we allowed her to safely walk away with the highly classified data.

Whitaker gritted his teeth in extreme frustration, completely torn between his duty to his country and my desperate child.

I did not wait for the conflicted military commander to make his difficult, heavily burdened tactical decision.

I slowly walked out from behind the heavy cover of the helicopter, stepping boldly into the bright runway lights.

My hospital gown was completely soaked in blood from my torn stitches, but I stood incredibly tall and fiercely defiant.

I stared directly into the eyes of the ruthless spy who had completely destroyed my marriage and stolen my child.

I calmly told Tessa that I had already memorized the master decryption sequence before my father passed away.

I lied smoothly, claiming that the physical keys she desperately wanted were entirely fake and completely useless to her.

Tessa's confident smirk faltered slightly as she tried to determine if a desperate mother was bluffing her.

I slowly raised my hands and offered to manually type the code into her server in exchange for my baby.

Vance tried to aggressively grab my arm to stop me, but I shot him a fierce, warning look to stand down.

Tessa carefully considered my offer, knowing that my biometric signature was required to authorize the final transfer anyway.

She cautiously gestured for me to step forward, keeping her thumb resting dangerously heavy on the explosive detonator button.

I walked slowly across the cold concrete, my intense focus locked entirely on the thermal carrier holding my son.

When I finally reached the bottom of the stairs, she aggressively demanded that I input the code on her digital tablet.

I took the heavy tablet from her bloody hands, pretending to carefully type a long string of complex numbers.

Instead, I aggressively activated the tablet's emergency localized distress beacon, designed to emit a high-frequency jamming signal.

The piercing, invisible frequency instantly disrupted the delicate radio connection between her detonator and the explosive charges.

Tessa realized she had been tricked and furiously raised her weapon to shoot me directly in the face.

Before she could even pull the trigger, Vance lunged forward with terrifying speed and aggressively tackled her to the ground.
