Chapter 6 - The Uninvited Guests

My father froze completely in his tracks on the snowy wooden porch.

A brilliant, unwavering red dot rested directly over his frantically beating heart, promising instant death.

Three heavily armed men in dark tactical clothing stepped silently out from the deep shadows of the pine trees.

They were clearly not federal agents, and they were certainly not local Tahoe police officers.

The man standing in the center held a suppressed assault rifle with terrifying, absolute professional ease.

"Hello, Richard," the armed man said in a smooth, deeply menacing tone.

"You owe my boss three hundred thousand dollars, and you just missed your final, non-negotiable deadline."

My father held his trembling hands high up in the air, his knees shaking violently against the cold wood.

"I have the money coming, I just need a few days to sell this house!" my father pleaded pathetically.

The armed man chuckled softly, the chilling sound barely audible over the howling mountain wind.

"We already ran the title on this property yesterday afternoon, Richard."

"This house belongs to a federal military trust, and you have absolutely no legal claim to sell it."

Olivia let out a horrified, piercing scream, finally understanding the true depth of her father’s massive lies.

He had never actually intended to give her a beautiful family home by the lake.

He was purely using her and her young children as human shields against his violently dangerous creditors.

"Take my daughter, take her expensive jewelry, just give me one more week to get the cash!" my father begged the gunman.

Olivia looked at her father with absolute, world-shattering horror and deep disgust.

He had just casually offered his own flesh and blood to a syndicate enforcer to save his own pathetic life.

Susan fainted instantly from the shock, collapsing face-first into the freezing snow accumulated on the porch.

The enforcer lowered his rifle slightly, looking at my cowardly father with pure, unfiltered disgust.

"You truly are a miserable piece of garbage, even by my low standards," the armed man stated coldly.

The enforcer pulled a set of heavy steel zip-ties from his tactical vest, preparing to bind my father's wrists.

"We are taking you for a very long, very final drive, Richard."

Suddenly, the blinding flash of a police siren completely illuminated the entire snowy driveway.

A heavily armored SWAT vehicle crashed violently through the wooden front gates of the property.
