Chapter 6 - The Betrayal

The roaring jet engines masked the sound of my gasping breath as I stared at the shocking scene unfolding on the stairs.

Elaine stood directly behind my father, her expression completely devoid of any emotion as she pressed the gun barrel against his skull.

Dad froze completely, slowly raising his hands in the air as his silver pistol clattered down the metal steps.

"What are you doing, Elaine?" Dad yelled over the deafening noise of the engines.

"I am securing my retirement," Elaine replied smoothly, completely unbothered by his panic.

She kicked his gun off the stairs, watching it slide under the heavy tires of my truck.

"You thought you were the mastermind of this operation, but the buyers never actually wanted to deal with you."

"They only wanted the merchandise, and I am the only one getting on this plane with the five million dollars."

Dad turned his head slightly, his face twisting into a mask of pure, absolute rage.

"You cannot do this to me!" Dad screamed desperately.

"I burned my own house down for you!"

Elaine simply laughed, the exact same cruel laugh I heard when she put my brother in that glass jar.

"You were just a useful idiot, a pathetic man willing to sell his own son for a quick payday."

She shoved him hard down the metal stairs.

Dad lost his footing and tumbled violently onto the hard tarmac, groaning as he clutched his bruised ribs.

Elaine turned around and began walking back into the luxurious cabin of the private jet.

"Where is the baby?" I screamed, jumping out of the truck and running toward the bottom of the stairs.

Elaine paused in the doorway, looking down at me with absolute contempt.

"I left the little brat in the airport terminal lockers," she sneered dismissively.

"The buyers changed their mind when they heard the police were involved, so I am just taking their money and leaving."

The heavy cabin door began to hydraulically lift, slowly sealing her inside the private jet.

I turned around, desperately scanning the dark, abandoned terminal building a few hundred yards away.

If my newborn brother was locked inside a metal storage box in this freezing weather, he would not survive the night.

"Grandma, get to the terminal and find Leo!" I shouted, pointing toward the building.

Grandma nodded, grabbing a flashlight from the truck and running toward the glass doors as fast as she could.

I turned back to the jet, refusing to let Elaine escape with millions of dollars after destroying my entire family.

I ran toward the landing gear, grabbing the thick, heavy metal chocks meant to secure the wheels.

I shoved them violently against the massive rubber tires, ensuring the plane could not roll forward without severely damaging the landing struts.

Dad suddenly lunged at me from the ground, wrapping his hands tightly around my throat.

"You ruined everything!" he roared, squeezing my windpipe with brutal force.

I gasped for air, thrashing wildly against the cold asphalt, but his grip was incredibly strong.

My vision started to blur with dark spots, the roar of the jet engines fading into a dull buzz.

Suddenly, a bright, blinding spotlight swept across the tarmac, illuminating both of us in a harsh white glow.

Three armored, black tactical vehicles smashed through the airfield gates, speeding directly toward the jet.

Federal agents poured out of the vehicles with assault rifles raised, screaming for everyone to get on the ground.

Dad instantly let go of my throat, scrambling to his feet in absolute panic.

He turned to run into the darkness, but he didn't even make it three steps.

The massive, spinning turbine engine of the private jet suddenly began to emit a horrific, high-pitched mechanical whine.

Elaine had panicked and pushed the throttle to maximum power before the engine was fully primed.

A massive explosion ripped through the left wing, sending a massive fireball shooting directly into the night sky.
