Chapter 4 - The Setup

Victoria looked down at me from the deck of the yacht like I was an insect waiting to be crushed.
Brenda stood back, clutching the flash drive to her chest.
"You really thought my own sister would betray me for cash?" Victoria laughed bitterly.
"We used her phone to lure you here so we could finish tying up loose ends."
She stepped off the yacht onto the wooden dock, gripping the heavy steel wrench tightly.
"Once you are floating at the bottom of the bay, Lewis will claim Chloe went completely insane and jumped off a bridge."
"With both of you gone, all of Robert's assets will default to Chloe's grieving widower."
I stood perfectly still, letting the salty sea breeze whip my hair across my face.
I didn't scream, and I didn't run.
"You always were too arrogant for your own good, Victoria," I said calmly.
Victoria’s confident smile faltered for a fraction of a second.
"What are you talking about?" she demanded, taking a step toward me.
I raised my right hand and snapped my fingers loudly.
The heavy black duffel bag on the dock suddenly unzipped itself from the inside.
Brenda screamed and jumped backward, dropping the flash drive into the water.
A massive, heavily armed private security contractor rose from inside the oversized bag, leveling a stun gun directly at Victoria's chest.
At the exact same moment, three black SUVs swarmed the entrance of the marina, blocking any chance of escape.
Robert stepped out of the lead vehicle, adjusting his expensive silk tie.
"Did you honestly think a billionaire sends his ex-wife to a ransom drop without a tactical team?" Robert asked loudly.
Victoria dropped the wrench, her face draining of all color.
"This is illegal entrapment!" she shrieked, backing away from the security guard.
Robert walked onto the dock and stopped right in front of the terrified woman.
"I don't care about the law, Victoria," Robert whispered dangerously.
"I care about destroying your entire existence."
He handed her a thick manila folder.
"Open it," he commanded.
Victoria's hands shook as she opened the file, her eyes scanning the documents.
It was a full financial dossier proving that Lewis had been embezzling millions from his own law firm.
"I bought his law firm this morning," Robert explained with a ruthless grin.
"And I just handed these exact files to the FBI."
Victoria realized her golden child was about to spend the rest of his life in federal prison.
But instead of begging for mercy, a wicked, desperate smile spread across her face.

"Go ahead and arrest him," Victoria hissed, staring directly into Robert's eyes.
"But if you do, I will hand the press the proof of how you actually made your first billion, Robert."
