Chapter 10 - The Reclaimed Life

Six months later, the Miami sun was shining brightly as I helped Chloe carry the last box of her belongings into her luxury condo.

The criminal trials were completely finished, locking Lewis away for fifteen years and putting Victoria behind bars for twenty.

Chloe had redecorated the entire apartment, erasing every single memory of the man who had tried to ruin her.

"It finally feels like home again," Chloe smiled, placing a vase of fresh lilies on the kitchen counter.

Robert walked through the front door carrying a bottle of vintage champagne to celebrate her fresh start.

We popped the cork and toasted to resilience, family, and the beautiful future that lay ahead for my brave daughter.

The nightmare was officially behind us, and we were stronger than we had ever been.

After finishing my glass of champagne, I walked into the master bathroom to wash my hands.

Chloe was busy unpacking a box of framed photographs in the living room.

I reached for a towel under the heavy marble vanity, but my hand accidentally bumped the ornate mirror hanging above the sink.

The mirror swung open on a hidden hinge, revealing a small, dark wall safe tucked directly into the drywall.

I frowned, knowing Robert had never mentioned installing a secret safe when he bought the property.

The metal door was slightly ajar, so I gently pulled it open and reached inside.

I pulled out a thick, dusty manila folder labeled "Chloe's Real Father" in handwriting that belonged to my ex-husband.

I opened the folder, my heart stopping dead in my chest when I saw a birth certificate and a photograph attached to it.

The man in the photograph was not Robert; it was Victoria Dudley’s deceased husband.
