Chapter 6 - The Trust is Sealed

With the legal threats neutralized, the final phase of my plan commenced. Arthur and I finalized the transfer of my personal assets. The sprawling estate where they had tried to steal my art? Deeded to the city as a public botanical garden. My offshore accounts? Transferred into an irrevocable trust funding the new pediatric wing at the local children's hospital.

I held a massive video conference from my hospital suite with all three hundred employees of Crestview Freight. When I told them the company was now theirs, grown men wept on camera.

“You built this with me,” I told them through the screen. “You don't throw away family when they get older. You protect them. Crestview is yours now. Don't let the suits ruin it.”

My general manager, a gruff woman named Sarah whom Marcus had called 'obsolete,' held up a printed photo of Marcus with a red circle and slash through it. “If he ever sets foot on our loading docks, we’ll ship him to Siberia via ground freight, boss.”

I laughed so hard my monitors beeped. For the first time in months, I felt truly at peace.
