Chapter 5 - The Corporate Spy

The entire ballroom gasped as the federal agent revealed Chloe's true identity.

"Her real name is Natasha Volkov, and she is an international corporate spy wanted in four different countries," the agent announced.

I looked at Chloe, watching her fake, sweet demeanor melt into a mask of cold, calculating rage.

She stopped struggling against the cuffs, standing up straight and glaring at the FBI agents.

Julian looked like he was going to vomit right there on the expensive marble floor.

"She stole your proprietary tech designs last month and sold them to a rival firm in Geneva," the agent told Julian.

Julian had destroyed our marriage, humiliated me in public, and risked everything for a woman who was actively destroying his life.

"You stupid, arrogant fool," Chloe spat at Julian, her voice dropping its sweet American accent for a harsh, foreign tone.

"It took me less than a week to seduce you and access your secure vault," she laughed cruelly.

Julian charged at her in a blind rage, but two agents quickly tackled him to the ground.

"You ruined me!" Julian screamed, his face pressed against the floor.

"No, Julian, you ruined yourself," I said, looking down at him with absolute indifference.

My father chuckled, waving his hand to dismiss the pathetic scene unfolding before us.

"Take the trash out, gentlemen, this party is meant for respectable people," my father ordered the agents.

They hauled Chloe away, her curses echoing down the hallway until the doors slammed shut.

Julian scrambled to his feet, trying to straighten his ruined suit, his pride completely shattered.

He looked at me with desperate, pleading eyes, finally realizing the magnitude of his terrible choices.

"Clarissa, please, we are still married, we can fix this," Julian begged, reaching for my hand.

I slapped his hand away so hard the sound echoed like a gunshot through the silent ballroom.

"I am filing for divorce tomorrow, and I am taking every single penny you have left," I promised him.

Julian's face darkened, his desperation instantly twisting back into vindictive malice.

"You can't divorce me, because I still have the loan documents with your signature," he snarled.

He waved the paper in the air, clinging to his last remaining piece of leverage.

"If I go down for bankruptcy, I am dragging you straight to hell with me," he swore.

My father simply smiled and pressed a button on his smartwatch.

"Go ahead, Julian, check the signature on that document one more time," my father suggested calmly.

May you like

Julian hastily unfolded the paper, his eyes scanning the bottom line where my name was supposed to be.

The ink on the page began to literally smoke, fading away until the signature line was completely blank.
