Chapter 2 - The Bride's Secret

The silence that followed was so profound you could hear the ice melting in the cocktail glasses.

Nicholas stumbled backward, clutching his chest as if he had just been physically struck.

"You... you can't be serious," my brother stammered, his perfect image shattering into a million pieces.

My father marched across the room, his face red with fury as he tried to salvage the situation.

"Now listen here, Mr. Stewart, this is a private family event and you are crossing a line," my father barked.

Emmett slowly stood up from the tiny plastic chair and smoothed his impeccable suit.

"The only line being crossed is the one where your son committed corporate fraud," Emmett replied.

My mother grabbed my arm, her fingernails digging painfully into my skin.

"Jenna, tell your wealthy friend to stop this embarrassing prank right now," she hissed venomously.

I gently pried her fingers off my arm and shook my head.

"He isn't my friend, Mom," I said smoothly. "He is my client."

The entire family stared at me as if I had suddenly started speaking a foreign language.

"Client?" Nicholas scoffed defensively. "You write a pathetic little blog, Jenna, you don't have billionaire clients!"

Emmett reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, pulling up a highly confidential contract.

"Your sister is the ghostwriter behind every major keynote speech that has doubled my company's stock this year," Emmett announced.

The influential guests in the room began whispering frantically, suddenly looking at me with immense respect.

Nicholas looked like he was about to faint from the sheer humiliation of being outshined by me.

But before my brother could apologize, his new bride, Chloe, stepped forward with a dark smirk.

"Actually, Nicholas is right, she is a complete fraud," Chloe said loudly.

She pulled a silver flash drive from her wedding gown and held it up for the crowd to see.

"I invited Emmett here tonight to expose that Jenna stole all of those speeches from my real employer."
