Chapter 7 - The Observer

The massive underground room was a fully functional, high-tech surveillance hub.
Dozens of large computer monitors glowed brightly in the oppressive darkness.
Every single glowing screen displayed drastically different parts of Elias’s mundane daily life.
There were hidden cameras planted in his tiny apartment, his sedan, and even his corporate workplace.
They had ruthlessly monitored his every single move for seven agonizing years.
Lily wandered curiously toward a large metal desk completely covered in architectural blueprints.
“Is Mommy hiding in here?” she asked, her sweet voice echoing loudly in the empty concrete bunker.
“I really do not know,” Elias whispered back, still staring blankly at the overwhelming wall of screens.
He walked cautiously over to the main computer terminal positioned in the center of the room.
He aggressively tapped the illuminated keyboard, trying desperately to access the locked hard drive.
A high-definition video file suddenly popped up on the largest center screen.
It was a recorded message perfectly date-stamped from exactly one week ago.
The clear video showed Anna sitting calmly in this very underground room.
She looked significantly older, terribly tired, and deeply afraid for her life.
“If you are finally watching this video, Elias, it means my borrowed time has run out,” Anna said softly through the speakers.
Elias felt his dry throat tighten painfully as he heard her beautiful voice.
“Apex Pharmaceuticals finally tracked my location.”
“They desperately want the biological cure I synthesized secretly from my own mutated blood.”
“But they absolutely do not know that I gave the only working cure to the one person they cannot easily touch.”
She looked directly and intensely into the camera lens.
“I legally passed the cure down to our biological daughter.”
Elias spun around violently and looked directly at Lily.
She was innocently tracing her small fingers over a paper map on the desk, completely unaware of her immense value.
Anna’s recorded voice continued echoing through the cold room.
“Her unique blood type is the only existing key to completely neutralizing the neural weapon.”
“You have to fiercely protect her at all costs, Elias, or millions of innocent people will die.”
The video recording suddenly glitched violently and abruptly cut to pure black static.
A incredibly loud, metallic clanking noise suddenly echoed from the dark hallway immediately outside the room.
Someone else was actively walking around inside the abandoned bunker.
May you like
Elias swiftly drew his heavy pistol and forcefully pushed Lily completely under the metal desk.
The heavy steel door slowly began to creak open on its rusted hinges.
