Chapter 10 - The False Victory

Elias instinctively and protectively stepped completely in front of Anna and Lily.

“What the hell are you doing, Victor?” Elias demanded fiercely.

Victor’s once helpful expression was now completely cold, calculated, and entirely hollow.

“I am simply just following my strict corporate orders.”

Elias aggressively tightened his firm grip on his own lowered weapon.

He had ruthlessly survived entirely too much to pathetically die on this snowy, godforsaken ridge.

With blinding, desperate speed, Elias viciously kicked a massive cloud of snow directly into Victor’s exposed eyes.

Victor fired his weapon blindly, the stray bullet harmlessly grazing the thick fabric of Elias’s shoulder jacket.

Elias lunged violently forward, fiercely grabbing Victor’s gun wrist and twisting it until the bone audibly popped.

The tactical gun clattered uselessly onto the hard blue ice.

Elias flawlessly delivered a brutal, punishing blow to Victor’s jaw, instantly knocking the massive man completely unconscious.

Elias stood triumphantly over the fallen mercenary, panting heavily in the freezing air.

He angrily kicked the dropped weapon away and turned joyfully back to his terrified family.

“It is finally over,” Elias said proudly, breathless but entirely victorious.

“We need to leave in this chopper before the other helicopters actively find this hidden ravine.”

Anna nodded her head quickly and carefully lifted Lily into the safe back seats of the unmarked chopper.

Elias smiled warmly as he watched his beautiful daughter securely buckle her heavy safety seatbelt.

They had actually miraculously made it.

They had aggressively beaten Apex, successfully found the horrific truth, and ultimately survived the impossible nightmare.

Elias happily placed his bloody hand firmly on the metal door frame to eagerly pull himself inside the warm cabin.

Anna suddenly and violently pressed a flashing red button on the pilot's main control panel.

The heavy, reinforced metal door forcefully slid completely shut, firmly locking Elias entirely outside in the freezing snow.

Elias stared blankly through the thick reinforced glass in absolute, mind-numbing confusion.

Anna looked directly back at him through the cold window with completely dead, emotionless, calculating eyes.

“I am truly sorry, Elias.”

Her chilling voice buzzed methodically through the external radio speaker mounted on the fuselage.

“But the company desperately needed the cure currently flowing inside her blood, and you were the only biological key that could successfully unlock that old radar station.”

The massive helicopter lifted aggressively off the snowy ground, completely leaving Elias entirely alone to die as the armed Apex strike team viciously swarmed over the rocky ridge.
