Chapter 7 - The Forged Documents

The heavy boots of the police officers pressed brutally against Robert's aching back.

He shouted that Vance was a liar and a dangerous criminal attempting a corporate coup.

The police completely ignored his desperate pleas and locked cold steel handcuffs tightly around his wrists.

Elizabeth screamed from her wheelchair, demanding the officers release her innocent husband immediately.

Vance stepped forward, adopting a sickeningly sweet tone of false, highly exaggerated sympathy.

He told Elizabeth that the stress of running the company had clearly fractured Robert's fragile mind.

Vance casually handed a thick folder of official-looking documents to the lead police detective.

The detective reviewed the papers and nodded, completely convinced by the elaborate, expensive forgery.

The documents were a legally binding emergency custody order signed by a corrupt city judge.

They officially granted Vance full, unquestionable guardianship over the orphan named Sam.

Two officers approached Sam, who was hiding terrified behind a large antique sofa.

They grabbed the crying boy and began dragging him forcefully toward the open front doors.

Sam screamed Robert's name, reaching out with tiny, desperate hands toward the restrained millionaire.

Robert fought wildly against the police, tears of absolute fury streaming down his bruised face.

He promised Sam that he would find him and bring him back home, no matter the cost.

Vance leaned down close to Robert's ear, making sure the police could not hear his whisper.

He chillingly told Robert that if he fought the custody order, Sam would suffer a tragic, fatal accident.

Vance smirked and walked out of the mansion, taking the crying child into the dark, rainy night.

The police dragged Robert to a waiting patrol car, officially charging him with child endangerment and assault.

Elizabeth sat alone in the ruined grand foyer, surrounded by shattered glass and broken furniture.

She realized that everything her husband had built was about to be entirely stolen by a monster.

She picked up her encrypted phone and dialed the only person powerful enough to help her now.

She called her estranged father, a ruthless former mob boss who still controlled the city's underground.

She told him that she needed an army of men and every dirty secret he had on a man named Vance.

Her father chuckled darkly through the phone and promised his daughter absolute, unrestrained vengeance.

Meanwhile, Robert sat in a cold, concrete holding cell, feeling entirely defeated and broken.

A corrupt guard walked by his cell and casually tossed a small, folded note through the iron bars.

Robert opened the note and read the horrifying terms of his complete and utter surrender.

Vance demanded that Robert sign over one hundred percent of his company shares by noon tomorrow, or Sam would die.
