Chapter 1 - The Silver Scissors
Mia looked at her reflection in the tall mirror and smiled brightly.
Her white dress was absolutely perfect for the special evening.
Her dark hair was beautifully styled in soft, cascading curls.
A bright pink ribbon was carefully tied to complete her beautiful look.
She was entirely ready for the most important school performance of her young life.
Then Vanessa aggressively kicked the bedroom door open.
The cruel woman grabbed Mia by the arm and dragged her roughly into the lavish living room.
Dozens of wealthy guests stopped chatting and stared in absolute shock.
Mia screamed in terror and desperately begged her stepmother to stop hurting her.
But Vanessa simply smiled as she lifted a heavy pair of silver scissors into the air.
She ruthlessly grabbed a fistful of Mia's hair and cut off the entire right side of her beautiful curls.
The entire living room went completely silent as the heavy locks of hair fell to the marble floor.
Mia dropped to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably and holding the fallen hair in her tiny, trembling hands.
Vanessa looked down at the weeping child with a cold, sinister glare.
She leaned in close and asked if Mia really thought she was prettier than her.
Suddenly, the heavy mahogany front door swung open.
Adrian walked into the room, holding a bouquet of flowers meant for his daughter's big night.
He saw the silver scissors shining in Vanessa's hand.
He saw his sweet daughter crying hysterically on the floor.
He saw her ruined hair scattered across the pristine white tiles.
His initial heartbreak instantly mutated into a blinding, uncontrollable rage.
Vanessa immediately dropped the scissors and tried to lie her way out of the situation.
She frantically claimed that Mia had a massive piece of gum stuck in her hair that needed to be cut out.
But Adrian did not say a single word as he pointed directly at the security camera mounted in the corner.
He pulled out his phone and played the live footage directly onto the massive living room television.
Every single guest watched the undeniable proof of Vanessa's brutal, unprovoked assault.
Vanessa's face went completely pale as her wealthy friends gasped in utter disgust.
She thought she had successfully destroyed Mia’s big day with a simple haircut.
But the unblinking camera had just permanently destroyed her entire future.
