Chapter 4 - The Breach

The ground literally shook as the helicopter hovered directly over our backyard.
I heard the frantic shouts of Garrick and Miriam echoing from the patio.
"Who are these people?" Miriam screamed in absolute terror.
"Call the police!" Garrick yelled back.
Suddenly, a massive, deafening crash shattered the front of the shed.
The heavy wooden doors were violently kicked entirely off their hinges.
Bright afternoon sunlight flooded the dark, suffocating space, blinding me for a moment.
Two men wearing tactical gear and black masks rushed into the room.
They didn't carry weapons, but they moved with terrifying, military precision.
"We have the primary package," one of the men said into a radio attached to his shoulder.
He knelt beside me and gently stabilized my neck.
"Hold on, Elena," a familiar, deep voice echoed from the doorway.
I squinted against the light and saw my brother, Elias, stepping over the broken wood.
He was wearing a tailored charcoal suit that looked entirely out of place in a Texas backyard.
His face was an unreadable mask of cold, calculated fury.
"You took your time," I whispered, a weak smile forming on my cracked lips.
"I had to make sure we secured the perimeter," Elias replied smoothly.
He signaled his men, who carefully lifted me onto a portable canvas stretcher.
As they carried me out of the ruined shed, I saw Garrick standing on the lawn.
He was completely frozen, his phone pressed against his ear, staring at my brother in shock.
"You can't take her!" Garrick suddenly shouted, finding false courage.
"She is my wife, and she is having a severe psychotic breakdown!"
Elias stopped walking and slowly turned to face my husband.
He didn't raise his voice, but his tone cut through the noise of the helicopter like a razor.
"Your wife is currently suffering from deliberate medical negligence."
"If you ever speak to her, look at her, or breathe in her general direction again, I will erase you."
Miriam charged forward, waving her Bible in the air like a weapon.
"You are trespassing on sanctified property, you demonic thug!" she shrieked.
Elias simply adjusted his cuffs and looked at the older woman with absolute pity.
"Enjoy your church barbecue, Miriam, because it will be the last meal you ever eat in this house."
The medical team loaded me into the back of a heavily armored black SUV parked on the grass.
Elias climbed in beside me and slammed the heavy door shut.
"We are going straight to a private hospital," Elias assured me, pulling a clean IV bag from a medical kit.
He expertly inserted the needle into my arm, flooding my system with life-saving antibiotics and painkillers.
I finally closed my eyes, believing that the nightmare was truly over.
But as the SUV sped down the highway, Elias's secure phone rang loudly.

He answered it on speaker, and a frantic doctor's voice filled the cabin.
"Mr. Vance just filed an emergency police report claiming you kidnapped his heavily medicated, suicidal wife."
