Chapter 9 - The Rescue

The wail of police sirens instantly pierced the snowy silence outside the penthouse windows.

Julian had not waited for Chloe to succeed.

He had bypassed family court entirely and used his vast political influence to manufacture a kidnapping charge.

“He froze your accounts,” Elena panicked, clutching her son to her chest.

“He is trying to cut off our legal defense.”

Silas moved with terrifying speed and precision.

He did not look like a businessman anymore; he looked like a general preparing for war.

“My public accounts are frozen,” Silas corrected as he pulled a hidden keypad from behind a bookshelf.

“My private resources are entirely off the grid.”

He punched in a rapid sequence of numbers.

A section of the library wall slid open, revealing a reinforced steel panic room and a private access elevator.

“Get in,” Silas ordered.

“The SWAT team is already in the lobby.”

Elena ran into the hidden room, cradling the baby tightly to muffle any potential crying.

Silas grabbed a secure laptop and a locked briefcase before joining her.

The steel door hissed shut just as the main doors of the penthouse were violently breached.

The private elevator plummeted downward, bypassing the lobby entirely and arriving in a subterranean parking garage.

A black, armored SUV was idling near the exit.

Silas’s head of security, Marcus, was behind the wheel.

“Drive,” Silas commanded as he pushed Elena into the backseat.

The heavy vehicle tore out of the garage and disappeared into the chaotic Manhattan traffic.

Elena looked out the tinted windows, her heart pounding frantically.

“Where are we going?” she asked.

“To the only place Julian cannot touch,” Silas replied, opening the laptop.

He quickly connected to a secure network and uploaded the audio recording of Chloe's confession.

“Julian thinks he can control the narrative with corrupt judges,” Silas muttered, his fingers flying across the keys.

“So I am giving the narrative to the public.”

Silas hit the enter key.

Within sixty seconds, the audio file was sent to every major news outlet, tabloid, and financial blog in the country.

It was also emailed directly to the board of directors at Sterling Enterprises.

The fallout was instantaneous.

Elena’s phone began buzzing uncontrollably with news alerts.

“You just destroyed his company,” Elena whispered in sheer awe.

“I destroyed his legacy,” Silas corrected smoothly.

“Julian's board will force him to resign before the market closes.”

“He has no money, no power, and no heir.”

The SUV pulled up to the private gates of a massive, fortress-like estate on the edge of Long Island.

It was Silas Vance's primary residence, protected by armed guards and impenetrable security.

They walked into the grand foyer, leaving the chaos of the city far behind them.

Elena looked down at her son, feeling a profound sense of relief wash over her.

The nightmare was finally over.

Julian was ruined, Chloe would be arrested, and her baby was safe.

She turned to Silas, tears of gratitude welling in her eyes.

“Thank you, Silas,” she said softly.

“You saved us.”

Silas smiled, a warm, reassuring expression that made her feel incredibly safe.
