Chapter 7 - The Bloodline

I slowly lowered my gun, pretending to surrender to my father's horrific demands.
I let the heavy weapon slip from my fingers, letting it clatter loudly onto the wet pavement.
As the mercenaries relaxed their stance for a fraction of a second, I kicked the gun straight toward Grace.
Grace dropped to the ground, caught the weapon flawlessly, and opened fire in a single, fluid motion.
She took down two of the mercenaries before they even realized they were under attack.
I lunged forward, grabbing the barrel of the third mercenary's rifle and twisting it violently out of his hands.
I drove my elbow into his throat, crushing his windpipe, and threw his body into the side of the SUV.
The fourth mercenary managed to fire a burst of bullets, shattering the windows of the armored vehicle.
I tackled him to the concrete, disarming him and neutralizing the threat with brutal efficiency.
Carlo screamed in panic, slamming his foot on the gas pedal to flee the chaotic scene.
The heavy SUV peeled away, leaving my father's dead men bleeding in the street.
I grabbed Grace and the girls, rushing them toward a stolen sedan parked nearby.
I hotwired the ignition with shaking hands, desperately praying the engine would start.
The car roared to life, and we sped out of the industrial park, disappearing into the dark city streets.
I looked at Grace in the passenger seat, my mind struggling to process her incredible combat skills.
I asked her how a simple private investigator knew how to clear a tactical kill zone like a seasoned soldier.
Grace pressed a bandage against a graze on her cheek, taking a deep, ragged breath.
She confessed that she was never a private investigator at all.
She revealed that she was an undercover federal agent assigned to build a RICO case against my entire bloodline.
Isabelle had been her confidential informant.

Before I could react to this massive revelation, Sophie tugged on my bloodstained sleeve from the backseat.
She pointed to a small, blinking red light embedded in the collar of Nora's winter coat.
