Chapter 8 - The Explosive Truth

I stared at the terrifying text message, realizing David was escalating his attack to a catastrophic level.
My home was not just a house; it contained a massive, heavily fortified underground server room storing all my corporate data.
If David destroyed those servers, my pharmaceutical company would lose billions of dollars in irretrievable research.
I quickly tied the unconscious assassin to the radiator using medical bandages and kissed Emma's forehead one last time.
I knew the blaring fire alarms would bring the real police within seconds to secure her room and protect her.
I sprinted back down the stairwell, hijacked another taxi, and ordered the driver to speed toward my suburban neighborhood.
When I arrived at my property, the entire house was completely dark, eerily silent, and devoid of any movement.
I crept through the shattered back door, moving like a ghost through the kitchen I had built with my own hands.
I slowly made my way into the grand living room, the moonlight casting long, sinister shadows across the furniture.
David was sitting comfortably in my favorite leather armchair, casually twirling a black electronic detonator in his hand.
He smiled broadly when he saw me, acting as if we were just two brothers catching up over a holiday dinner.
He mockingly congratulated me on surviving the night, but assured me that my incredible luck had officially run out.
I demanded he drop the detonator, telling him the police were already en route and his ridiculous plan had completely failed.
David laughed loudly, a hollow, echoing sound that sent shivers down my spine, and simply tossed the detonator onto the floor.
He told me the explosive threat was nothing but a cheap bluff to force me away from the hospital.
He revealed that while I was rushing here to save my servers, he had been busy executing the real damage to my life.
David pointed to my open laptop on the coffee table, a sinister green loading bar slowly creeping across the bright screen.

He proudly announced that he had just uploaded thousands of highly illegal, horrifying child pornography files directly onto my corporate servers.
He smiled wickedly, explaining that the FBI would raid my company tomorrow and lock me away for the rest of my miserable life.
