Chapter 3 - The Illusion of Power

Dominic stared at his own Chief of Security in complete disbelief.

He screamed that he was the owner of the building and ordered the man to do his job.

The Chief of Security calmly informed him that the building had just changed ownership ten minutes ago.

My brother Victor moved incredibly fast when he was angry.

Dominic's face turned a sickening shade of pale gray.

He pulled out his cell phone and frantically dialed his primary financial investor.

He begged the investor to explain why the real estate holding company was seizing his office building.

I could hear the angry voice shouting through the phone speaker.

The investor told Dominic that all funding was completely terminated effectively immediately.

The man cursed Dominic for lying about his financial stability and hung up abruptly.

Dominic slowly lowered the phone, his hands trembling violently.

He turned his furious, bloodshot eyes toward me.

He accused me of hacking his accounts and promised to destroy me in divorce court.

Dominic swore he would hire the most expensive lawyers in the country to take full custody of Sophia.

I laughed coldly at his pathetic, empty threats.

I told him he no longer had the money to hire a cheap paralegal, let alone a luxury attorney.

Elena rushed into the hallway, clutching her son tightly to her chest.

She arrogantly told Dominic not to worry about my silly little revenge plan.

She pulled a thick legal document from her designer handbag and waved it in my face.

Elena smugly announced that Dominic had legally adopted her son three months ago.

She revealed that Dominic had secured a massive trust fund for the boy using my forged signature as collateral.
