Chapter 2 - The Stolen Life

I stood frozen at the edge of the grand ballroom.
Elena smiled up at my husband with pure adoration in her eyes.
Sophia tugged on my hand and asked why Daddy was holding another boy.
My chest tightened with a sickening, unbearable pain.
I walked forward until I was standing directly behind their happy little family.
Dominic turned around casually with his crystal champagne glass in his hand.
His charming smile instantly collapsed into a mask of pure terror.
He dropped his glass, sending shattered crystal flying across the expensive carpet.
Elena gasped loudly and took a dramatic step back.
She recognized me immediately despite the years of lies she had told.
Dominic frantically set the little boy down and grabbed my arm with violent force.
He aggressively dragged me into a private side corridor away from the staring guests.
He demanded to know why I was ruining his most important corporate event of the decade.
I slapped him across the face so hard my palm burned like fire.
I asked him exactly how long he had been living a twisted double life.
He coldly wiped his jaw and sneered at me with absolute disgust.
He said Elena was his true partner and the mother of his rightful heir.
He claimed he only married me because I was a safe, quiet option who cooked his meals.
Dominic arrogantly stated that he was the CEO of a multi-million dollar company and I was a nobody.
He angrily signaled a pair of massive security guards to escort me off the property.
The guards approached me with heavy steel handcuffs ready.
Before they could touch me, the Chief of Security stepped out from the shadows of the hallway.

He completely ignored Dominic's frantic orders.
Instead, the massive man bowed his head respectfully to me and asked if he should throw the CEO out the window.
