Chapter 5 - The Bloodline Traitor

The silence in the command center was absolutely deafening.
Roman stared at the glowing monitor, his scarred face turning into a mask of pure, lethal rage.
Julian was supposed to be running the legitimate European shipping ports for the family.
Roman slowly turned away from the screen and looked at his lead hacker.
He asked the hacker how long Julian had been funneling money to corrupt Boston detectives.
The hacker stammered, frantically scrolling through years of hidden financial ledgers.
He revealed that Julian had been funding Detective Vance for over three years.
Julian was systematically paying the police to eliminate Roman’s loyal men so he could take over the empire.
I sat in the chair, feeling entirely out of my depth in this violently complex family feud.
I told Roman that I just wanted to clear my name and get my life back.
Roman looked at me, his sharp gaze softening for just a fraction of a second.
He promised me that as long as Titan trusted me, I was under his absolute protection.
Suddenly, the heavy steel doors of the command center locked with a loud, magnetic thud.
The overhead lights flickered and died, plunging the room into absolute darkness.
Red emergency lights kicked on, bathing the concrete bunker in a bloody glow.
One of Roman’s trusted guards, a man named Silas, drew his weapon in the dim light.
But Silas did not point his gun toward the locked door to defend us.
He aimed the barrel directly at the back of Roman’s head.
Silas coldly stated that Julian sent his regards from Paris.
He placed his finger on the trigger, preparing to execute Boston’s most feared crime boss.
I screamed a warning, but I was too far away to stop him.

Before Silas could apply pressure to the trigger, a massive black shadow launched through the air.
Titan hit the traitor’s chest with the force of a freight train.
