Chapter 1 - The Hidden Frequency

Four-year-old Sophie wandered quietly into the center of the nursery carpet, her small shoes making no sound against the thick wool rug.
She did not look at the frantic nannies or the sweating doctors.
She walked straight toward the wooden crib where baby Theo was screaming the loudest.
Elena lunged forward to pull her daughter away, but I raised my hand to stop her.
Something in the young girl's calm demeanor commanded absolute attention in the chaotic room.
Sophie stood on her tiptoes and peered through the carved wooden slats of the crib.
She reached her tiny hand past the crying infant and dug beneath the plush mattress.
The entire room held its breath as she pulled out a sleek, black metallic disc.
It was no larger than a silver dollar, but it had a tiny red light blinking rapidly in the center.
Sophie looked up at me with innocent, wide eyes.
"It hurts my ears, Mr. Adrien," she whispered softly.
Dr. Gable stared at the object in absolute disbelief.
"That is an ultrasonic acoustic emitter," the neurologist gasped, his face turning pale.
"It emits a high-frequency pitch designed to cause severe neurological distress in infants and toddlers."
My blood ran cold as I realized my children had been subjected to targeted torture inside my own home.
I snatched the disc from Sophie's hand, my knuckles turning white with rage.
Marco stepped closer, his tactical flashlight illuminating the small device in my palm.
"Boss, that requires manual placement within the last twelve hours to bypass our electronic sweeps," Marco said grimly.
Someone inside my trusted inner circle had planted this device directly under my son.
Suddenly, the red blinking light on the disc turned solid green.

A soft, robotic female voice echoed from the tiny speaker on the device.
"Audio sequence complete, initiating explosive protocol in sixty seconds," the voice announced calmly.
