Chapter 3 - The Hostage

Victoria wore a flawless white designer coat that stood out in the dark rain.

Her blonde hair was perfectly styled, making her look like an angel.

I knew exactly what kind of monster was hiding beneath that smile.

"Hello, little sister," Victoria said casually.

I lunged toward the car, but Dante grabbed my waist and pulled me behind his broad body.

He raised his gun and pointed it directly at his wife's head.

"Where is my son, Victoria?" Dante roared, his voice echoing off the brick buildings.

Victoria laughed, a delicate and chilling sound.

"He is in a very safe place," she replied.

"If you pull that trigger, my men have orders to execute the boy and your little friend."

Dante's finger hovered dangerously over the trigger.

I grabbed his arm, completely paralyzed by the fear of losing Leo.

"Please don't shoot her," I begged him.

Victoria smirked and looked at me with absolute disgust.

"You really should have stayed in Switzerland, Elena."

"I am leaving tonight," I promised frantically.

"Just give me my son back and you will never see us again."

Victoria shook her head with a mock pout.

"I am afraid that is no longer an option."

"The Commission requires the Don to produce an heir to secure his seat at the head of the table."

"I have been unable to give Dante a child for three years."

She looked at Dante with a triumphant gleam in her eyes.

"But now, my husband has a beautiful, healthy son with Moretti blood."

A sickening realization washed over me.

"You are going to take him," I whispered in horror.

"I am going to raise him as my own," Victoria corrected.

"And you are going to meet the exact same tragic fate as our father."

The black sedan suddenly accelerated and sped away into the night.

Dante grabbed his encrypted phone and dialed his head of security.

"Lock down the entire city," Dante ordered his men.

"My wife just declared war on this family."
