Chapter 5 - The Snake in the Grass

The revelation of Natalie's true identity completely shifted the entire dynamic of the battlefield.
She had flawlessly manipulated Dominic into bankrupting his company and taking the illegal syndicate loan.
She was the one who had convinced him to leave me at the hospital and drive into a deadly trap.
I briefed my father on the intelligence, and he immediately ordered his men to capture Dominic alive.
The Brooks security forces flanked the marble fountain and easily subdued my terrified husband.
They dragged him into the estate's underground interrogation bunker and strapped him to a heavy steel chair.
The blast doors of the medical wing finally opened, and I walked down to the bunker with my father by my side.
Dominic looked up at me with a pathetic mixture of profound terror and arrogant entitlement.
He desperately demanded that I call off my guards and give him the money he needed to survive.
I stared at him with absolute disgust, feeling nothing but pity for the pathetic man I had once loved.
I calmly informed him that his entire life had been a meticulously engineered lie constructed by his own mistress.
Dominic aggressively denied my claims, shouting that Natalie loved him and would never betray him.
I opened my laptop and played a highly encrypted audio recording I had just intercepted from Natalie's phone.
The recording featured Natalie speaking directly to the syndicate boss, laughing about how easily she had ruined Dominic.
Dominic's face turned the color of ash as the undeniable reality of his complete destruction finally set in.
He began to weep uncontrollably, begging me to forgive him and save him from the assassins waiting in the city.
I felt absolutely zero sympathy for the monster who had tried to have me murdered on an operating table.
I told him he was going to rot in federal prison for forgery, corporate fraud, and attempted murder.
Dominic's cell phone, which my father's guards had confiscated, suddenly began to ring loudly on the metal table.
My father answered the call and placed the device on speakerphone for everyone in the room to hear.
Natalie's cold and calculating voice echoed through the damp underground bunker.
She did not ask to speak to Dominic, nor did she demand the return of the stolen money.
She cheerfully announced that she had just paid a visit to the miserable motel where Dominic's parents were hiding.

She then held the phone close to the terrified, screaming face of Dominic's mother, Victoria.
Natalie calmly stated that she would execute Victoria on live video unless we handed over my newborn son.
