Chapter 9 - The Siege

The server room instantly transformed into a chaotic, terrifying war zone.
Tactical agents poured rapidly through the shattered windows, but Arthur's elite mercenaries viciously fired back.
Stray bullets shattered the remaining glass, forcing everyone to hit the floor immediately.
I screamed in absolute agony as another contraction tore through my body, feeling the baby crowning.
Chloe bravely shielded my vulnerable body with her own as drywall rained down upon us.
"We are completely pinned down!" Agent Mercer shouted weakly into his radio, clutching his bleeding chest.
"We need immediate heavy support and medical on the second floor!"
Julian crawled menacingly through the debris, his eyes locked onto me with pure, unadulterated hatred.
He didn't care about the heavily armed FBI, the dangerous cartel, or his cowardly father anymore.
He only cared about making absolute sure I didn't leave this room alive.
Arthur Vance shouted frantically at his son to fall back, but Julian completely ignored him.
A brave tactical medic slid rapidly across the floor, desperately trying to reach my side.
Before she could reach me, Julian grabbed her ankle and violently threw her aside.
He pulled a hidden, serrated tactical knife from his expensive leather boot.
"If I can't have the heir, nobody gets the money!" Julian screamed wildly over the deafening gunfire.
He lunged aggressively toward me, the sharp blade raised high above his bloody head.
Chloe fired her last remaining bullet, but her hands shook, hitting the metal server rack instead.
Julian violently tackled me to the ground, heavily pinning my shoulders to the floor.
I fought back with absolutely everything I had, but the exhausting labor pains drained my strength.
He slowly pressed the freezing cold steel of the knife against my throat.
"Say goodbye, Jules," he whispered frantically into my ear.
Suddenly, the massive, towering server rack beside us groaned incredibly loudly.

The wild bullet Chloe fired had directly struck the primary load-bearing metal bracket.
The two-ton metal structure began to tip directly over us.
