Chapter 9 - The Final Stand

The red strobe lights flashed relentlessly, casting terrifying shadows across the massive warehouse walls.

Daniel did not waste a single second trying to understand Olivia's hidden programming.

He sprinted blindly across the dark floor, using the flashing lights to navigate toward his family.

Michael fired his weapon wildly into the darkness, completely blinded by panic and rage.

A bullet grazed Daniel's leg, but the adrenaline masked the pain entirely as he tackled Michael to the ground.

The two men wrestled brutally on the hard concrete, fighting for control of the deadly firearm.

Daniel delivered a devastating elbow to Michael's face, hearing the satisfying crunch of a broken nose.

He ripped the gun from the doctor's hands and tossed it far into the dark corners of the room.

Daniel frantically pulled a pocket knife and slashed the thick ropes binding his weeping wife and daughter.

"We have exactly thirty seconds before the gas deploys," Daniel shouted over the blaring alarms.

He gathered his family and the two clones, running desperately toward the heavy steel security doors.

The doors were completely electronically sealed and absolutely impossible to open by brute force alone.

"Olivia, you have to reverse the lockdown code right now," Daniel pleaded with the little girl.

Olivia stared at the heavy doors, her small face completely devoid of any fear or emotion.

"The code is permanent to ensure the complete destruction of compromised assets," Olivia replied flatly.

Daniel realized they were entirely trapped in a steel tomb of their own making.

Suddenly, a massive explosion rocked the exterior of the building, completely blowing the steel doors off their hinges.

Bright tactical flashlights pierced the smoke as dozens of heavily armed FBI agents swarmed into the warehouse.

Daniel had programmed his burner phone to send a delayed dead-man's switch message to the federal authorities.

The agents quickly secured the room, neutralizing the deadly gas deployment system just in time.

They dragged a bloodied and broken Michael Carter to his feet, slapping heavy federal handcuffs on his wrists.

Daniel hugged his wife and daughter tightly, weeping tears of pure joy and absolute relief.

As the agents led Michael away, the corrupt doctor began to laugh hysterically like a complete madman.

He looked back at Daniel with a truly wicked and terrifying smile on his bruised face.

"You think you saved her, but the veterinary antidote was only a temporary chemical patch."

Michael smiled maliciously as he delivered his final blow.

"Olivia's internal organs will completely shut down in exactly twenty minutes without the real cure."
