Chapter 19 - Sins Washed in Blood

Alejandro raised his heavy shotgun, entirely ready to murder his own daughter in cold blood.

Ricardo instantly pushed me aside and stepped directly into the line of fire.

The deafening blast of the shotgun echoed through the hallway.

The heavy spray of bullets struck Ricardo's tactical armor, knocking him violently to the ground.

"Ricardo!" I screamed, my heart completely stopping in my chest.

Alejandro walked slowly forward, completely ignoring the chaotic battle raging in the dining room.

He racked his shotgun again, aiming the heavy barrel directly at Ricardo's unprotected head.

"This is the end of the Moretti legacy," Alejandro stated coldly.

Suddenly, a bloodied and bruised Mateo stumbled out of the server room.

Mateo raised his weapon, but he did not aim it at me or Ricardo.

He aimed it directly at his father's back.

"You were going to give her my empire!" Mateo screamed in pure, jealous rage.

Mateo pulled the trigger, firing three rapid shots directly into Alejandro's back.

Alejandro gasped in absolute shock, dropping his shotgun and collapsing heavily to his knees.

He turned his head slowly, looking at his treacherous son with deep, profound disbelief.

Mateo laughed hysterically, walking forward to finish the warlord off entirely.

But Dante suddenly appeared from the smoke, moving with silent, lethal precision.

Dante raised his weapon and eliminated Mateo with a single, perfectly calculated shot.

Mateo fell completely dead next to his dying father.

I rushed to Ricardo's side, frantically checking his heavy body armor.

The tactical plates had successfully stopped the shotgun blast, but the massive impact had cracked his ribs.

Ricardo groaned in intense pain, but he reached up and wiped a tear from my cheek.

"I am fine, Clara," he coughed, slowly sitting up.

I looked down at Alejandro Vargas, who was bleeding out rapidly on his expensive marble floor.

His cartel was entirely destroyed, and his treacherous son was completely dead.

He looked up at me, his eyes finally showing a trace of genuine human regret.

"You truly are a Rossi," Alejandro whispered weakly before taking his final, rattling breath.

The brutal, terrifying ghost of my past was finally and permanently gone.
