Chapter 9 - The Digital Time Bomb
Victor did not hesitate for a single fraction of a second.
He unbuckled his seatbelt and threw his entire body across the small cabin.
He shielded Sadi completely just as Paul squeezed the heavy trigger.
The high-caliber sniper bullet tore violently through the thin metal door.
The bullet buried itself deep into Victor's left shoulder with a sickening crunch.
Victor grunted in intense, blinding agony, but he managed to maintain his grip on Sadi.
Sadi screamed in horror as hot blood immediately soaked through his white tuxedo shirt.
She grabbed the heavy fire extinguisher mounted on the cabin wall.
She aggressively hurled the red canister out of the shattered door directly at Paul.
The heavy metal canister struck Paul violently in the face, knocking him off the helipad.
Sadi pulled Victor back into the pilot's seat with desperate, adrenaline-fueled strength.
Victor fought through the paralyzing pain and grabbed the flight controls with his good hand.
The helicopter lifted aggressively into the stormy night sky, leaving the casino far behind.
Sadi ripped the bottom of her crimson dress and tightly bound Victor's bleeding shoulder.
She applied intense pressure to the wound, her hands covered entirely in his warm blood.
Victor managed to fly them to a deserted rooftop in a safe, quiet neighborhood.
He safely landed the helicopter and cut the loud engine.
Sadi pulled the missing flash drive from Victor's tuxedo pocket, where he had slipped it during the fight.
She plugged the drive into the helicopter's advanced navigational computer to read the files.
She pressed her thumb against the biometric sensor on the tiny drive.
The screen flashed bright green, indicating the massive ledger was finally unlocked.
She quickly initiated a mass data transfer to every federal agency and news outlet in the country.

Suddenly, a terrifying red warning message flashed boldly across the digital screen.
The drive was programmed with a dead man's switch that triggered a massive explosive device planted inside the helicopter.
