Chapter 10 - The New Dawn

Two months later, the Sterling Gallery was transformed.
The heavy, oppressive atmosphere that Vance had cultivated was gone. The staff moved with genuine smiles, no longer living in fear of sudden outbursts or cruel demotions. The gallery had been entirely restructured, with higher wages, better benefits, and a focus on promoting young, underprivileged artists rather than catering solely to the elite billionaires.
Beatrice Sterling walked through the main hall, admiring a new installation by a local sculptor. She blended in with the patrons, looking like any other wealthy art enthusiast, but the staff knew exactly who she was. They treated her with profound reverence and gratitude, not fear.
Silas stood a respectful distance away, near the grand archway. He wore his signature charcoal suit, his eyes constantly scanning the room, forever vigilant. But his posture was slightly less rigid. The threat was neutralized. Elias Vance was currently sitting in a maximum-security federal prison, awaiting a trial that would guarantee he never saw the outside world again.
Beatrice walked over to Silas, stopping beside a magnificent Renaissance painting.
"The gallery feels alive again, don't you think, Silas?" she asked, her eyes twinkling with satisfaction.
"It reflects its true leadership, Madam," Silas replied quietly.
Beatrice looked up at the towering man who had saved her life more times than she could count. He was a weapon, yes, but he was also the most loyal friend she had in a world built on greed and betrayal.
"I received a letter from Vance's attorneys this morning," Beatrice noted, her tone light. "They were begging for a settlement to avoid a lengthy trial. They offered to return a fraction of the embezzled funds."
Silas raised an eyebrow. "And your response?"
"I told my lawyers to shred the letter and to ensure the prosecutor seeks the absolute maximum sentence," Beatrice smiled. "I do not negotiate with thugs. Whether they wear ski masks or designer suits."
Silas permitted himself a rare, subtle smile. "A wise decision."

"We have protected the legacy, Silas," Beatrice said, looking around the bright, bustling gallery. "Now, we ensure it thrives."
She turned and walked back into the crowd, a queen moving through her restored kingdom. Silas remained by the archway, his hands clasped casually in front of him. He watched her go, a silent guardian in charcoal, ready to step forward the moment the world dared to test them again. The storm had passed, the empire was secure, and justice, absolute and unforgiving, had been served.
