Chapter 6 - The Mother's Betrayal

Jonathan lowered the gun, staring at his mother in absolute disbelief.

He asked her what she was talking about, his voice trembling with a mixture of confusion and heartbreak.

Rosalind straightened her posture, the elegant matriarch reclaiming her absolute authority.

She explained that she had noticed his sloppy mistakes for months and knew I was investigating him.

She decided he was a liability to the family legacy and systematically drained the corporate accounts to protect herself.

She planned to let Jonathan take the fall for the fraud while she disappeared to a non-extradition country.

The entire wedding was merely a distraction to keep him occupied while her private jet was fueled.

Jonathan realized he had been nothing more than a pawn in his mother's endless game of greed.

His hand shook violently around the dead-man's switch as the betrayal shattered his mind.

I slowly backed away, realizing that Rosalind was the true mastermind behind the entire ten-year conspiracy.

She had ordered the hit on Evelyn a decade ago, and she was the one who encouraged Jonathan to physically break me.

Rosalind turned to the security chief and offered him ten million dollars to execute her own son.

The armed guards hesitated, looking between the hysterical groom and the icy matriarch.

Money is the only loyalty mercenaries understand, and Rosalind clearly held the purse strings now.

The security chief raised his weapon and aimed it directly at Jonathan's head.

Jonathan panicked and released his grip on the dead-man's switch.

The red light on his chest stopped flashing and turned a solid, terrifying green.

Nothing happened.
