Chapter 10 - The Dawn of Truth

The sun shone brightly through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows of their new penthouse overlooking the city skyline.

Eleanor smiled as she watched Leo play chess with Sarah on the plush living room rug, the sounds of their laughter filling the massive room.

She walked without a cane now, her steps confident and powerful, wearing a sharp designer suit that commanded immediate respect.

The company was thriving, completely purged of Richard’s toxic influence and corrupt board members.

The charity gala that had started this entire ordeal felt like it had happened a lifetime ago to a completely different woman.

She walked over and kissed the top of Leo’s head, feeling a profound, overflowing sense of peace and absolute happiness.

They had won the war, they had survived the fire, and they had built a beautiful new life together from the ashes.

The penthouse buzzer chimed softly, breaking the peaceful silence of the Sunday afternoon.

The private concierge’s voice came through the intercom, sounding slightly confused.

“Ms. Eleanor, a private courier just dropped off a very secure package addressed specifically to young Leo,” the concierge announced.

Eleanor frowned, walking over to the private elevator to receive the small, velvet-covered box from the security guard.

She brought it back to the living room, and Leo eagerly opened the beautiful packaging.

Inside the box rested a stunning, incredibly rare vintage pocket watch made of pure, heavy platinum.

Leo pressed the top button, and the watch sprang open to reveal a tiny, folded piece of thick parchment paper.

Eleanor pulled the note out, reading the elegant, handwritten calligraphy aloud to the room.

“You played your part flawlessly, my boy, and getting rid of Richard was the perfect move.”
