“Victor’s men came to my apartment,” I said, pacing the plush carpet. “How do we stop him?”
“We file the marriage certificate and the probate documents with the state supreme court tomorrow morning,” Harrison explained. “The moment we do, you are legally recognized as the majority shareholder of Sterling Real Estate. Victor will be frozen out.”

“Leo,” a smooth, chilling voice echoed through the room. “My name is Victor Sterling. You have something that belongs to my family.”
“I have what belongs to my wife,” I shot back, my voice remarkably steady.

Victor laughed. It sounded like grinding glass. “You’re a clever little gold digger. Let’s make a deal. Bring me the bag, and I’ll give you five million dollars. Refuse, and I will make sure you end up in a ditch next to my dear stepmother’s grave.”
“Keep your money, Victor,” I said coldly. “I’m coming for your empire.” I hung up.
