Chapter 6 - The Corrupted Shield

The FBI director stepped into the room with a cold and calculating smile on his face.

He casually aimed his assault rifle at my chest while his heavily armed men secured the perimeter.

I realized with absolute disgust that Sterling had purchased the loyalty of the highest law enforcement officials in the state.

The director ordered his men to confiscate the laptop and completely destroy the secure servers.

He thanked Julia for neatly packaging all the evidence so he could personally erase it from existence.

Julia raised her shotgun, but two mercenaries immediately pinned her to the ground with brutal force.

Marisol shielded Renata in the corner of the room, begging the men not to hurt the terrified child.

The director walked over to me and pressed the hot barrel of his rifle firmly against my forehead.

He said Sterling wanted me alive just long enough to sign the legal transfer of my entire corporate empire.

He pulled a thick stack of legal documents and a pen from his tactical vest.

He demanded that I sign the papers immediately, or he would order his men to execute Marisol and Renata.

I looked at the terrified eight-year-old girl who had waited in the rain just to do the right thing.

I knew I could not let these innocent people die because of my own blind corporate negligence.

I slowly took the pen and signed my name on every single page of the fraudulent transfer documents.

The director laughed triumphantly and snatched the papers from my trembling hands.

He pulled out his radio and told Sterling that the billionaire's empire had officially been secured.

He then turned to his men and coldly ordered them to throw us all off the edge of the lighthouse balcony.

The mercenaries grabbed my arms and violently dragged me toward the shattered glass windows overlooking the raging ocean.

I struggled with every ounce of my remaining strength, but they were far too strong and heavily armored.

Just as they pushed me to the absolute edge of the deadly drop, a deafening siren echoed from the ocean below.

A massive coast guard vessel completely illuminated the lighthouse with an incredibly bright searchlight.

The sudden blinding light severely disoriented the corrupt director and his ruthless mercenaries.

Marisol used the split second of distraction to smash a heavy kerosene lantern directly over a mercenary's head.

The man screamed in agony as the burning liquid ignited his tactical uniform in bright orange flames.

The chaos allowed Julia to break free from her captors and retrieve her fallen shotgun from the floor.

She fired a deafening blast into the ceiling, bringing a massive chunk of heavy masonry crashing down upon the director.

The director was pinned beneath the heavy stone, dropping the signed transfer documents onto the bloody floor.
