Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Betrayal

Julian stood up very slowly, the glowing security monitors casting a highly sinister green light across his scarred face.
Selena pressed herself desperately against the newly locked steel door, crying completely silently in absolute, unadulterated terror.
Aria bravely stood her ground, gripping the heavy iron pipe incredibly tightly in her bruised, shaking hands.
"Why are you doing this to innocent people, Julian?" Aria demanded, desperately trying to find a tiny trace of the brother she loved.
Julian laughed bitterly and slammed his sharp combat knife aggressively into the main, expensive control console.
"Innocent people simply do not exist in the corrupted world of billionaires, Aria," Julian spat with intense, burning hatred.
He rapidly typed a complex sequence into the keyboard, bringing up a highly classified financial document on the main screen.
"Marcus Voss did not order the brutal hit on our parents eight years ago," Julian revealed with a chilling, dead calmness.
Aria stared at the glowing document, her brilliant mind quickly processing the highly complex routing numbers and digital signatures.
The offshore bank accounts that explicitly funded the deadly assassination completely traced back directly to Harrington Global.
"Leonard is the actual monster who killed our family, and then he adopted you solely to steal your algorithm," Julian declared triumphantly.
Aria felt her entire reality violently and irreparably shatter into a million broken pieces.
The powerful man who had just placed his warm coat over her torn dress was secretly her parents' true, ruthless murderer.
Before Aria could fully process the devastating, world-ending betrayal, the heavy steel door directly behind them exploded violently inward.
The massive shockwave threw Selena brutally across the room and knocked Aria incredibly hard to the concrete floor.
Leonard stepped bravely through the smoking, twisted wreckage, bleeding heavily from his side and holding a military-grade detonator.
"Step away from my daughter right now, Julian, or I will end you," Leonard roared, completely ignoring his own severe injuries.

Julian smiled triumphantly and pointed a gloved finger at the incriminating documents glowing brightly on the large screens.
"Tell her the absolute truth about exactly how our parents died, Leonard," Julian challenged with a highly dangerous smirk.
