Chapter 3 - THE ACCOUNTANT'S REVENGE
With the diner padlocked by the city, Clara was forced to return to Julian’s penthouse for her safety. Leo was overjoyed to have his hero staying with them, but Clara was pacing the floor, her brilliant mind spinning.
"Julian," Clara said, pulling her laptop onto the kitchen island. "Before I lost everything, I was a forensic accountant for small businesses. Victoria is wealthy, but buying prime Chicago real estate overnight requires massive liquidity. Where did she get the cash?"
Julian frowned. "Her alimony payments are high, but not that high."
Clara hacked into public property records, tracing the LLC Victoria used to buy the land. "Here. The LLC is funded by an offshore account in the Caymans. Julian, she didn't just buy the land. She’s using the diner's demolition as a front to launder money for her new boyfriend, a notoriously corrupt hedge fund manager."

Julian stared at the screen, a slow, dangerous smile spreading across his face. "If we can prove the funds are dirty, the federal government will seize the land. The lease termination will be void."
"I don't just need proof," Clara said, her eyes blazing with determination. "I need access to her boyfriend’s server. And I know exactly how to get it."
