Chapter 5 - The Underboss
Luca took a slow step backward as Damian turned toward him.
Damian drew his pistol and aimed it directly at Luca's chest.
He asked his oldest friend why he had made the extortion call.
Luca raised both of his hands in the air.
He swore on his mother's grave that he was being framed.
He explained that someone must have cloned his device to create a diversion.
Damian's finger tightened on the trigger.
He had learned long ago that trust was the easiest way to get killed.
He ordered Luca to get on his knees.
Before Luca could comply, the reinforced windows of the bunker shattered.
A barrage of automatic gunfire tore through the underground room.
Damian dove behind the heavy metal desk as bullets shredded the leather sofa.
Luca grabbed a shotgun from the weapons rack and returned fire toward the broken windows.
Assassins dressed in black tactical gear were repelling down into the bunker.
Damian popped up and shot two of the attackers in the chest.
Luca blew a third man backward with a devastating shotgun blast.
The remaining assassins realized they were outgunned and retreated up the ropes.
Damian cautiously stepped out from behind the desk.
He kicked the weapons away from the dead bodies.
He knelt down and pulled the tactical mask off the closest attacker.
The dead man had a distinctive Russian mafia tattoo on his neck.
Damian searched the man's pockets for identification.

Pinned inside the wallet was a legitimate, gold shield belonging to the FBI.
